Description
This secluded spot is a hidden gem in a high desert valley with stunning views of the rolling mountains in the east and the unique stone slabs in the west. It is ideal for those seeking a private and peaceful camping experience away from the hustle and bustle of crowded campsites. The site is located under a large tree, providing ample shade and shelter from the elements. It is a flat and spacious dispersed site that can accommodate two or three vehicles, making it a great option for small groups.
One of the highlights of this campsite is the dramatic wash located a short walk to the south. While it may be dry in the fall, it flows beautifully in the spring, adding to the already breathtaking scenery. However, it is important to exercise caution when crossing the wash in wet conditions. Additionally, the surrounding vegetation and terrain offer excellent protection from the elements, making it a comfortable place to camp year-round.
While spotty cell service is available, the site offers an acceptable view of the sky for satellite connectivity. It is also relatively close to Tucson, making it an excellent option for those looking for a nearby getaway. However, it is important to note that the forest roads in the area are extremely rugged, and a high-clearance, four-wheel drive vehicle is required to access the site. Overall, this secluded spot is a must-visit for those seeking a unique and peaceful camping experience in a rugged landscape.
Always tread lightly, leave no trace, respect the wishes of landowners, and leave campsites cleaner than you found them. Be the very best steward of our public spaces that you can possibly be so that they remain public.
