Boondocking in the Woods of Central Ontario

Nestled just west of Timmins, Ontario, this secluded primitive campsite offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. Located on a quiet, lightly traveled two-track road, it’s just a few miles from pavement but feels like a world away. The site appears to be a repurposed old sand pit, now transformed into a serene clearing among the trees, complete with a well-maintained fire ring. It’s the only established campsite along this road, making it a truly unique find.

Privacy and tranquility define this campsite. Tucked away from the main path, it provides enough space for one or two vehicles and boasts surprisingly good cell service. The dense woods surrounding the site offer an intimate, sheltered atmosphere, though they do limit views of the sky, which might affect satellite connectivity. However, the smooth and gentle track leading to the site is accessible by any vehicle, with the campsite itself best suited for camper vans due to the tree-lined squeeze.

Ideal for an extended stay, this campsite offers a peaceful retreat in the heart of nature. While the surrounding area remains largely unexplored, this spot’s convenience and charm make it a perfect base for those visiting the Timmins region. Whether you’re passing through or planning to stay a while, this campsite promises a relaxing and enjoyable outdoor experience.

Always tread lightly, leave no trace, respect the wishes of landowners, and leave campsites cleaner than you found them. Be the very best steward of our public spaces that you can possibly be so that they remain public.
