Boondocking on the Back Way To Mount Lemmon

You must be a member or a Patreon subscriber to see location.

Located along the back way to Mt. Lemmon, there is a spacious dispersed camping area that offers ample room for multiple vehicles. This area is accessible via a high-traffic forest road, suitable for any four-wheel-drive vehicle with moderate ground clearance. While the ground here may be uneven, leveling options are available for camping vehicles.

With an abundance of tree cover, this campsite provides good protection against the elements, although satellite connectivity may be limited due to the lack of visibility to the sky. There is some cell service available for communication purposes. However, it is important to note that privacy is moderate, as the nearby forest road attracts recreational OHV and 4x4 activities. On busy weekends, it is likely that you will have neighboring campers.

Situated at the highest elevation along the forest road, this dispersed campsite offers a unique overlanding and camping experience on Mt. Lemmon. For those seeking breathtaking views through the trees towards the east, this wooded and high-elevation location is particularly appealing.

Please be aware that there are additional potential campsites further down the mountain from this point. Overall, if you're looking for a recommendation for an enjoyable camping adventure on Mt. Lemmon, I suggest considering this spot.

Always tread lightly, leave no trace, respect the wishes of landowners, and leave campsites cleaner than you found them. Be the very best steward of our public spaces that you can possibly be so that they remain public.
