Description
This campsite, located in Carson National Forest, is a secluded gem nestled near the ski town of Red River. To access this campsite, you will need a small high clearance four-wheel drive vehicle as the dead end forest road leading to it is steep and has loose rocks. The campsite is located on a mountainside in a densely wooded area surrounded by conifers, providing great protection from the elements. However, due to the thick tree cover, the sky is obscured, making it difficult to connect to satellite services like Starlink.
Despite the lack of satellite connectivity, the campsite offers decent cell service and great privacy, with enough room for one or two vehicles. If you enjoy recreational 4x4 and ATV adventures, there are plenty of nearby trails for you to explore. This peaceful spot is located at a high elevation within the tree line is best enjoyed during the warmer months. It's a great place to spend the night if you're out on a four-wheel drive adventure in the mountains of New Mexico.
Always tread lightly, leave no trace, respect the wishes of landowners, and leave campsites cleaner than you found them. Be the very best steward of our public spaces that you can possibly be so that they remain public.
