Christmas Pass Campground in Cabeza Prieta

This campsite ain't your average backyard retreat—it's Christmas Pass Campground, and it's tucked away seven miles off El Camino del Diablo. This place is about as remote as it gets. No cell service, so don't even think about checking your messages. But what it does have? A killer view of the night sky, perfect for stargazing.

The road getting here is no cakewalk. You're gonna need a 4x4, and it better be compact or mid-size, 'cause this track is narrow and bumpy. So pack light, drive steady, and keep your eyes peeled.

When you roll up, you're gonna find picnic tables and a bunch of stone fire rings. This place has space—enough for a whole crew of vehicles. To the south and west, you've got rock formations providing some shade and shelter. To the north and east, it's all wide-open Sonoran Desert, with distant mountains in the backdrop. If you're into scenery, you just hit the jackpot.

But listen, this campsite is over 60 miles from the nearest civilization, so come prepared. Bring enough water, food, and desert survival gear. You need a free permit to access the Barry Goldwater Range and Cabeza Prieta, so get that sorted before you head out.

Bottom line: Christmas Pass Campground is remote, rugged, and real. If you're looking for an off-the-grid adventure, this is the spot. Just be ready for whatever the desert throws at you.
