Check out this designated dispersed campsite in Medicine Bow National Forest, Wyoming, marked by a post and featuring a primitive stone fire ring. Nestled in the popular Vedauwoo area, the site is surrounded by stunning rock formations and unique geography. It’s grassy and spacious, with room for two or three vehicles.

A massive rock formation to the west provides a fun climbing spot. This site is a popular boondocking area, so it might be taken on weekends during peak season. Enjoy excellent cell service and a great view of the sky for satellite connectivity.

Located along a four-wheel-drive track, this campsite filters out larger campers, ensuring a more secluded experience. It’s a perfect basecamp for exploring the incredible surroundings of Medicine Bow National Forest.

Always tread lightly, leave no trace, respect the wishes of landowners, and leave campsites cleaner than you found them. Be the very best steward of our public spaces that you can possibly be so that they remain public.

We’ve been here in-person, but it might have been a while. To our knowledge, this spot is currently open and accessible, but that can easily change, so always have a back-up plan!
