Nestled on a stone slab perched on the edge of the majestic Mogollon Rim, this campsite offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the sprawling mountains and valleys to the south. The location is nothing short of stunning, with ample space for two or three vehicles, making it an ideal spot for a tranquil outdoor retreat. A primitive stone fire ring adds a rustic touch to the site, inviting campers to gather around a crackling fire under the vast, open sky.
While the northern section of the campsite boasts some tree cover, the majority of the area is exposed to the elements, providing an immersive experience with nature. Despite its remote setting, the campsite surprisingly offers excellent cell service, thanks to the expansive and airy views. Additionally, a partial view of the sky enhances satellite connectivity, ensuring campers can stay connected while surrounded by the beauty of the great outdoors. Accessible via a primitive two-track, the site can be accessed via stock four-wheel drive vehicles and capable vans, making it convenient for a range of outdoor enthusiasts.
Given the popularity of rim campsites, there is a possibility that this gem might be occupied, but fear not – there are other equally enchanting campsites nearby. During a stay at this high-elevation haven, I encountered no other campers, highlighting the potential for a serene and secluded experience. With the added advantage of escaping the summer heat at this elevated location, this lovely campsite comes strongly recommended for those seeking a harmonious blend of natural beauty and tranquility.
Always tread lightly, leave no trace, respect the wishes of landowners, and leave campsites cleaner than you found them. Be the very best steward of our public spaces that you can possibly be so that they remain public.
