Description

If you're looking for a peaceful and private place to camp near Escalante, Utah, you might want to check out this dispersed campsite. While it may not offer the sweeping views of the area, it is nestled among a grove of junipers on a picturesque flat, providing a serene atmosphere for your camping experience. The primitive stone fire ring can be used for cooking and warmth, and there's enough room for one or two vehicles.

The site does have passable cell service, which can be a plus if you need to stay connected. Additionally, the view of the night sky is great for stargazing, especially if you have Starlink. Keep in mind that while the junipers and low vegetation provide some protection from the wind, the site is still quite exposed to the elements. It's also down a primitive track that is gentle, but a four-wheel drive SUV, truck, or van is recommended due to some erosion.

If you're driving through Escalante and having trouble finding an available campsite, give this spot a try. It's only a short drive from pavement, and there are plenty of scenic and adventurous opportunities in the surrounding area. Even in the snow, this site was lovely, and the peaceful atmosphere made it a great place to spend the night.

Always tread lightly, leave no trace, respect the wishes of landowners, and leave campsites cleaner than you found them. Be the very best steward of our public spaces that you can possibly be so that they remain public.
