Description

If you're looking for a peaceful and idyllic experience in the Colorado mountains, then the spacious dispersed camping area with three sites next to southern Colorado's Rio Grande River might be just what you're looking for. The area is surrounded by aspen trees and features a view of cliffs to the north and mountains to the south. It's also grassy and flat, making it spacious enough for several vehicles.

While the area does not have cell service, it is located in a clearing with a decent view of the sky for satellite connectivity. The area offers moderate privacy, as it is located just off of a rugged and scenic forest road. Although it seems like a well-used site, it was quiet and vacant during the stay of a previous camper.

The site is located on a short forest road spur and the main forest road requires high clearance four-wheel drive if entering from the town of Silverton. It's important to note that this site is very remote, and the drive to get there is long, rough, and mountainous. However, if you're up for an adventure and want to experience the natural beauty of Colorado, this recommended campsite is perfect for a peaceful extended stay.

Always tread lightly, leave no trace, respect the wishes of landowners, and leave campsites cleaner than you found them. Be the very best steward of our public spaces that you can possibly be so that they remain public.
