Secluded Desert Campsite Between Two Cities

You must be a member or a Patreon subscriber to see location.

Located deep in the desert backcountry between Tucson and Phoenix, this secluded campsite on State Trust Land offers privacy and tranquility.

Accessible from the east by any stock four-wheel drive vehicle, vans or oversize vehicles can navigate the dry conditions to reach this lightly used dispersed site. Perched along a ridge, it provides sweeping views of the surrounding landscape, although there isn’t much shelter from the sun or wind.

Despite its simplicity, the site features a primitive stone fire ring and offers some cell service. With enough room for one or two vehicles, it’s perfect for a night or two of stargazing and relaxation. Just remember, an inexpensive recreation permit is required to enjoy AZ State Trust Land, easily acquired online.

Always tread lightly, leave no trace, respect the wishes of landowners, and leave campsites cleaner than you found them. Be the very best steward of our public spaces that you can possibly be so that they remain public.

Status – OPEN

We’ve been here in-person, but it might have been a while. To our knowledge, this spot is currently open and accessible, but that can easily change, so always have a back-up plan!
