Description

The San Juan National Forest is home to a beautiful dispersed campsite located near Pagosa Springs, Colorado. This designated site is nestled in a shady, wooded grove next to a river, providing campers with plenty of natural beauty to enjoy. The forest roads leading to the site are well-maintained, making it accessible to almost any vehicle. However, two-wheel drive vehicles may need to take extra care when navigating the bank from the forest road.

The site itself is primitive and offers a moderate level of privacy, as it is a popular spot for other hikers and campers. However, there is enough space for a few vehicles, making it a great spot to camp with friends. The clearing features a sturdy picnic table and a stone fire ring, perfect for cooking and enjoying the great outdoors. It's important to note that the dense canopy above means there is no view of the sky for satellite communication, and there is also no cell service in the area.

For those who love hiking and exploring, this campsite is a great starting point. There are opportunities for leaf peeping and waterfall viewing nearby, as well as other charming dispersed campsites to explore. The area is also ideal for touring scenic dirt roads, offering visitors a chance to take in the natural beauty of the San Juan National Forest.

Always tread lightly, leave no trace, respect the wishes of landowners, and leave campsites cleaner than you found them. Be the very best steward of our public spaces that you can possibly be so that they remain public.
