This GPS data set commences in Bozeman, Montana, and ventures south into the Absaroka Range, where it follows a long forest road into the mountains north of Yellowstone. The four wheel drive track is long and demands a high-clearance vehicle, with a number of idyllic campsites along the route. Not to be attempted in winter. Winch required in slippery conditions. Tracks return to pavement, and travel southeast to the city of Red Lodge, with primitive camping opportunities directly to the west.
Please tread lightly, pack out your trash, and treat every single one of these locations with the utmost respect.
